The tire was made with reinforced sidewalls that are capable of supporting the weight of the vehicle and the passengers temporarily after the loss of air pressure. In case of a puncture or similar damage, the tire can be driven on for 50 miles at up to the speed of 50 mph, which allows the driver to safely arrive at a destination where they can change or repair the tire. Run flat tires are made with a heavier construction than regular tires, due to this they cannot be mounted on the same vehicle. Run flat models are usually made for vehicles without space for a spare tire. The silica-enhanced tire compound and the tread pattern’s specially placed siping detail improve the all weather traction.
